the marshall plan

Picture
After the end of World War Two, the United States was aiding the most devastated countries in Europe with money and supplies so they could regain political stabilty, and so the world economy would grow. The USSR was trying to stop it, so it would be easier for the spread of communism. The United States was doing this so that the European countries did not fall to communism, and start a chain reaction of countries starting to turn to communism to try and help them get out of their debt.
This plan to aid the European nations was thought up my George C. Marshall, the Secretary of State. The speech was given at Harvard University on June 5, 1947.
